K. Shanthi is an experienced economist, academic and policy professional with over two decades of teaching and research experience. She is currently a Visiting Professor of Economics at Ashoka University and has held senior academic and institutional leadership positions, including Assistant Dean and Chair Professor at Great Lakes Institute of Management and Director of the India Development Foundation, Gurgaon. Her expertise spans Economics, Macroeconomics, Public Policy, Research and Management Consulting.

Served as Director of India Development Foundation, Gurgaon, a non-partisan, non-profit research institution focused on Social Sciences and Public Policy.
Served as Assistant Dean and Chair Professor at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai.
Held academic positions at IFMR Graduate School of Business – Krea University, including Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Guest Faculty.
Has also served as Visiting Professor at the Madras School of Economics and Chennai Mathematical Institute.
Earned her Ph.D. in Macroeconomics from IFMR Graduate School of Business – Krea University.
Her doctoral research focused on “Economics of Public Debt: India’s Experience (1960 to 1990)”.
Has been associated with the First State Finance Commission of Tamil Nadu, the advisory group of the Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu and consulting initiatives for the CII, Southern Region.
Her recent research includes economic empowerment of women through skilling and education, with work involving the IKEA Foundation and UNDP.
Has taught Economics to students across Business, Economics and Mathematics, with research interests centred on Macroeconomics and Public Policy.
